The expert has acquired a rich mix of teaching, research and industrial experience spanning over a period of 35 years and this experience gives him a unique ability in innovation, design and problem solving. In his early career, he erected and commissioned a full fledged textile mill. He successfully completed hundreds of small projects sponsored by more than 100 polymer/fiber/textile companies located across the globe and also consulted with them extensively. He taught both theory and lab courses in yarn formation, weaving, knitting, technology of nonwovens, physical testing, fiber science, polymer characterization, basic statistics and quality control. His current research focuses on the design and development of engineered fiber products for conventional and unconventional applications such as personal protection, comfort, healing and recovery, body shaping, building construction, transportation, filtration, agriculture, and space exploration. As a leading member of several AATCC technical committees, he was actively involved in developing many new test methods for the performance evaluation of fiber based products, especially emerging new products based on modern technologies. As chairman of the AATCC statistics committee, he plays a lead role in defining precision and bias values for different test methods and also in revising and updating AATCC test methods based on periodic review of global test results. He has published extensively in refereed journals and also presented his work in dozens of national and international conferences. He is recognized as an international expert in the area of objective characterization of subjective properties of fiber-based products such as yarns, fabrics, garments, carpets and other miscellaneous fiber products.

One of the unique experiences that makes the expert an effective consultant/field expert is the role he played at Georgia Tech for more than 20 years as faculty member in-charge of ‘Industry and Public Support’ activities. This problem solving role he played for the benefit of innovators, manufacturers, distributors and general consumers, gave him a unique insight into the whole range of problems that occur in the textile and related industries. It also put him in continuous contact with the industry stake holders and consumers and forced him to define optimized solutions for many common and uncommon problems. This role alone engaged him in dozens of industry sponsored projects every year. As a result, he worked with more than hundred fiber based companies over the years and solved their problems numbering in several hundreds. Over the last 8-9 years, he was actively involved in providing expert testimony in court cases involving fiber based products and industries. He provided testimony in more than 20 legal disputes, which involved criminal proceedings and fiber evidence, product liability, machine safety, product performance, product design, flammability issues, patents, and patent infringement issues. He also deposed and testified in bench trials, jury trials and arbitrations, for both defendants and plaintiffs. He appeared in court rooms located in multiple states to provide expert testimony on a wide range of litigation matters involving fiber based products and industries.
