Years: 2000 to 2004 | Employer: GE India Business Center, Hyderabad, INDIA | Title: Senior Design Engineer | Department: Consumer and Industrial |
Responsibilities:Lead role in NPI (New Product Introduction), QMI (Quick Marketing Intelligence) and Requisition Engineering. I am leading technology team from India for Midwest Electric Products. Marketing in consultation with me identifies suitable projects. We talk to Customers and Utilities of different regions like FMG, APS & SRP and freeze the CTQ’s (Critical to Quality). Depending on the utility requirements the product is designed and tested to comply with UL and EUSREC standards. I prepare project plan, set milestones for the team and allocate resources. We do brain storming with other teams to generate new ideas and alternatives. We use QFD, FMEA, MiniTab and Scorecards extensively to evaluate our ideas. The team uses Pro/E, ACAD, and Raster-CAD to complete the design. We make part models in Pro/E, do assembly and upload them into Pro/Intralink. Later we review our designs with the plant. After customers approval on design we carry out FE Analysis in ANSYS. If results are found satisfactory we generate drawings. The corrected models and drawings are again uploaded into Pro/ Intralink, get promoted to review and released state. All the released models available in Pro/Intralink are stored in a server in USA, form a wide database for us for future projects. The drawings from the Intralink get published in PDM software, which is then accessed by the plant for making Pilot run and regular production. |
