Expert in Water Quality and Treatment, Corrosion, Pollution Control, Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry
Expert ID: 731044
Expert has been active in academic research, teaching and consulting activities concerned with practically all aspects of drinking water treatment and the development of relevant analytical and monitoring approaches. His research has been especially active in the area of drinking water and wastewater disinfection and formation of disinfection by-products as well as the degradation of a wide range of trace-level organic contaminants. Contributions of expert to the development of novel approaches to the modeling of the formation of disinfection by-products and control of their concentrations in a wide variety of water chemistries and treatment has been a widely acknowledged. Corrosion processes, notably those affecting lead and copper release in drinking water have been in the focus of his research. Expert research has been concerned with processes in desalinated water and its effects on the corrosion of copper, lead-containing materials and iron in blends of conventionally treated and desalinated water. He has also contributed to the investigation of the occurrence of trace-level inorganic species in drinking water distribution systems and their mobility caused by changes of water chemistry and treatment conditions. His has also been carrying research concerned with galvanic coupling and modeling of electrochemical processes and metal release in galvanically coupled systems.
Prof. Expert has contributed to the development of online water quality monitoring methods and developed a number of differential spectroscopic methods that greatly increase the sensitivity and precision of online monitoring of water quality. Prof. Expert is an internationally known expert in water treatment, aquatic chemistry, disinfection and corrosion processes and relevant analytical methods. He has been involved in extensive projects with organizations in China, Australia, France, Italy and Russia. He is an editor of the major international journal Water Research.
