Welding of Steels and Other Alloys in Structural, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical & Refinery Applications

ID: 725804 Colorado, USA

Request Expert

Expert has extensive experience with many arc welding processes, including gas-tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas-metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded-metal arc welding (SMAW), and submerged-arc welding (SAW). He is familiar with both manual and automatic versions of these processes, as applied to carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, nickel alloys, and titanium alloys. He has welded these materials in compliance with both government specifications as well as aerospace and boiler code requirements.

He has been a member of Subgroup General Requirements of Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code since 2005. He has headed numerous task groups. He is available to present code cases to the ASME BPVC.

As a member of the ASME BPE MJ subcommittee, he has helped develop requirements for tube-attachment welds performed by automatic welding. He also wrote a set of essential variables for the qualification of welding operators, specifically for the performance of automatic orbital GTAW.

As a member of the ASME BPE committees, he has written rules that affect the design of piping systems, the inspection of the welds on the piping systems, and the qualification of both the welders and inspectors who fabricate and inspect these piping systems.

In the AWS Certified Welding Inspector Seminars that he teaches, he covers the processes, characteristics, variables, and discontinuities found in solid-state welding processes. He has developed spot welding processes for a fabricator who makes containers for military applications. He has also developed resistance welding processes for use in attaching tubes to high-pressure containers for nuclear weapons components.
