Expert is a professor of computer engineering at a renowned U.S. university, where he served as a chair from 1998 to 2003. Expert has been involved in R&D in: computer architecture, reconfigurable computing, VLSI chip design, network-on-chip, sensor networks, and computer graphics. He earned his Ph.D in 1987.

Expert has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He has trained hundreds of students who have assumed key positions in software and computer systems design companies throughout the last several decades. He has been a PI or Co-PI on over $4MM worth of research grants for developing next-generation computer systems for applications in general-purpose computing and digital signal processing.

He has had numerous consulting activities as an expert witness for semiconductor and computer system design related patents. He was deposed two times. He has reviewed tens of patents and written expert witness documents as part of these efforts. His most recent work was on DRAMs and patent infringements related to this technology.He has also consulted for flash memory industry to devise new error correction techniques and schemes for improving performance.He worked as a consultant for a reconfigurable DSP company that for which served as the CTO and later as part time consultant. He was one of the cofounders of this company as well which ended up raising 50 million dollars and employs 50 people at the peak of operation.
