Expert brings over 20 years of research and business development expertise in biotechnology. Expert received his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from Tulane University. After completing his postdoctoral training at the NIH, Expert worked at Applied Biosystems, where he was integrally involved in bringing a novel HIV drug resistance kit to market. He then moved to VaxGen, where he ran a research group that supported two large international Phase 3 HIV vaccine trials. Expert was a co-founder of a small molecule HIV and HCV therapeutic company, whose lead compound is now in Phase 1 clinical trials and is also a co-founder of a company focused on developing a proprietary molecule with broad utility for multiple vaccine and immunotherapeutic applications.

Expert is an accomplished business development executive, having completed over $300 million in transactions to date. The transactions include both in- and out-licensing and cover a range of areas including vaccines, computational chemistry, drug discovery platforms, and therapeutics.
