Following qualification as a Chemical Engineer, Expert spent 30 years in the petroleum refinery industry. He served in various roles including a Senior Project Engineer overseeing rehabilitation project then participation of the design and construction of a new hydrocracker complex at the refinery. He also served as a start-up and commissioning manger before taking over as the operations manager for a number of years. Expert continued his career serving as the refinery manager in charge of operations, maintenance, engineering, safety and inspection. During his career, he was involved in a number of complex incident investigations (as per the natural flooding catastrophes at the refinery in 2002).
