Expert is experienced in assisting physicians in emergency department control of arterial bleeding. He also assists physicians in the emergency department with arterial line placement and maintenance.

He is experienced in the care of patients with restrictive airway disease in an emergency department setting. He is knowledgeable of oxygen and medication administration. He is skilled in airway management, which includes the use of oral and nasal airways, endotracheal tubes, rapid sequence intubation, ventilator equipment, and application of various oxygen delivery systems based on the monitoring of oxygen saturation and patient history of disease.

Expert has experience in the insertion of peripheral access devices on daily basis. He provides assistance with physician insertion of central venous access devices and arterial lines. He obtains blood samples from these lines for laboratory testing, and does glucose monitoring using finger stick testing via a commercial glucometer system. He is also knowledgeable of the straight stick blood withdrawal technique.

He is experienced in the use of oxygen cannulas based on patient history of disease and oxygen saturation monitoring. He does cannulation of veins using peripheral access devices. He provides assistance to the emergency department physician with central venous and arterial access devices.

Expert is skilled in the application of fiberglass and plaster splints. He is experienced in assisting orthopedic specialists in cast application and removal in the orthopedic surgeon’s office and in an emergency department setting.

Expert developed a hypothermia protocol for the emergency department at a hospital. He also developed a hypothermia CEU self-study for hospital-wide training by the education department. He provided in-service training to emergency department personnel on the use of specific equipment necessary to care for the hypothermic patient.

Expert has done clinical research utilizing peer-reviewed nursing research articles for the development of protocols for the emergency department. He has also done clinical research obtaining statistics for the orthopedic surgeon utilizing patient records for paper published on arthroscopic synovectomy. He has assisted with rabbit ear assay and loo punch biopsy protocol for comedogenicity testing of cosmetics for a dermatologist/researcher obtaining qualitative and quantitative data. He has assisted with a double blind research protocol utilized for testing of aloe vera-impregnated vigilon dressings, obtaining qualitative and quantitative data for a dermatologist publishing a paper on healing responses following dermabrasion procedure.

He is experienced in the treatment of patients with all forms of disease processes in the U.S. Navy, orthopedic office, medical surgical floor, urgent visit, and emergency department settings over a 25-year period. He is familiar with and experienced in the use of a wide range of disposable medical equipment used in hospital, office, nursing home, and outpatient surgical center. He has performed EKGs on patients with identification of acute myocardial infarction, dysrhythmias or ischemic processes over a 25-year span in office or hospital setting. He is experienced in telemetry monitoring of patients on the medical surgical floor and in the emergency department.

Expert has used and monitored electronic medical devices in outpatient and inpatient settings. Expert is expert in all facets of emergency care for all age groups in level III emergency departments.
