Expert in Energy & Process Piping Design
PIPING CODE; BOILER CODE. Expert is an expert in pressure piping, ANSI/ASME piping codes, and boiler and pressure vessel code, section III, piping and pipe supports subjected to earthquake and other transient loads. He provides consulting services in piping and pipeline failure analysis; critical systems erection; ASME code construction; piping design reviews; piping and pipeline fitness for service criteria; maintenance, modification, and repair of piping systems; and elevated temperature and very high-pressure design.
PIPING SYSTEM DESIGN; PRESSURE PIPING SYSTEM. Expert has developed and given piping design and analysis seminars for the ASME and private companies. He has provided project and technical management of nuclear piping and support engineering and design; performed thermal-hydraulics and pressure vessel analyses; coordinated non-destructive test programs; developed proof testing and fatigue testing programs for piping components; provided program verification services for civil and thermal-hydraulic computer codes; and reviewed and assisted in the development of nuclear quality assurance programs.
Expert has over fifty years of professional experience in civil/structural and mechanical engineering, principally in the design and analysis of industrial process and energy-related structures, equipment, piping, pipelines, and supports.
Expert is the founder and President of a company founded in 1983. In this capacity, he has provided consulting services for: piping and pipeline failure analysis, cold spring and critical systems design and erection, code vessel and piping construction to assist in obtaining state operating permits, boiler piping design reviews, piping for solar power facilities, and pipeline fitness for service criteria and pipeline repairs. He has developed guidelines for seismic design of mechanical and electrical equipment, provided creep and high pressure (in excess of 5,000 psi) piping design services, assisted in the design modifications for power and petrochemical pressure vessels, developed layouts and designed high pressure/high temperature power and process piping systems, and developed and given over 300 power and process piping design and analysis seminars for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and private companies.
Prior to this, Expert co-founded and served as a corporate officer of a consultants firm where he provided project and technical management of nuclear field services engineering and design, performed thermal-hydraulics and pressure vessel analyses, coordinated nondestructive test programs, provided program verification services for civil and thermal-hydraulic computer codes, and reviewed and assisted in the development of the corporate Quality Assurance Program.
Earlier, Expert was a Section Manager and Project Engineer at EDS Nuclear. In this position he developed and implemented Quality Assurance procedures; interpreted regulatory codes; provided direct administrative and technical supervision of personnel performing piping, equipment, and support analysis and design for thirteen domestic nuclear power plants; and developed and verified a set of integrated computer programs to perform static, dynamic, and code compliance analysis of piping and support systems.
In previous employment, Expert provided technical and administrative direction for earthquake analysis of nuclear power plant buildings and other special structures; provided liaison, coordinated, and performed field support engineering for the construction of the Mare Island oil/coal-fired boiler renovation, provided consultations on civil and mechanical specifications; was responsible for design, analysis, and code compliance of power piping and pipe support systems; developed earthquake criteria for mechanical systems; coordinated welding procedure review, nondestructive testing, and weld repair; worked on the structural design of a bases-loaded coal-fired power plant and several industrial and commercial buildings; developed automated design and drafting computer programs; and trained personnel in the use of computers. Previous employers include John A. Blume & Associates, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, FMC Associates, Bechtel Corporation, the U.S. Navy, and IBM.
Also, Expert in “Codes & Standards."
