Expert has a background in geomorphology and glaciology and has gone on to work in fields which apply this knowledge to (1) deciphering regional climate signals and dynamics, and (2) assessing the impact of climate change on both glaciers and the hydrology of catchments that are fed by snow and ice melt.
She has worked on topics including glacier lake outburst flooding in the Himalayas, reconstruction of regional climate from ice core chemistry in the Arctic, snow hydrology in the Arid Andes, and regional climate modelling of East Africa. This work has been carried out through University institutions, but includes commercial contracts with mining operators and regional and national water authorities.
