Expert earned his Ph.D. degree in Veterinary Microbiology (Bacteriology) and substantial years of postdoctoral experience in Environmental health and Toxicology. This makes him more multitask and diverse research in both fields. His experience with mastitis causing bacterial pathogens such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus enabled him to develop certain differential growth media which can be used in clinical and diagnostic laboratories. He has also an extensive research experience on waterborne and environmental pathogens, since he has conducted major research on the prevalence and ecology of several pathogens in various occupational and health settings. These investigations also allowed him to monitor and evaluate microbial water quality indicators such as E. coli, Enterococcus, total coliform, Clostridium and other physical parameters for predicting the occurrence of these pathogens in recreational and agriculture watersheds across Canada and U.S.A. His research interests are also evolve towards the development of rapid and novel methodologies for the real-time detection, identification and quantification of pathogenic microorganisms and other environmental contaminants associated with public and occupational health environments using state of the art DNA-based techniques and microbiological methods. He has an extensive knowledge and expertise on designing molecular assays which may help to improve the management practices in occupational and diagnostic laboratories. All his contribution towards research opened new avenues in the field of molecular microbiology. Several industrial and diagnostic laboratories adopted and included the developed protocols in their routine analyses, since this area of research was very first time explored by him. Moreover, he has an excellent and unique working experience with Mycobacterium species, allowed him in evolving molecular tools which can easily be implemented and helpful in understanding the epidemiological prevalence of this pathogen in occupational and environmental setup.

He has an expertise on optimizing protocols for the isolation and cultural growth of anaerobic microbial community from different environmental sources.

He has done significant amount of work on DNA-based detection and confirmation by nucleotide sequencing using cloning techniques. This assay enables to identify unknown bacterial genus and differentiate to species and strain-level.

In 2005, a consultation was done for Sobran Inc. USA in terms of writing research proposal on Waterborne pathogens from well water, the proposal received a grant of 50K
