ANTIGEN-ANTIBODY INTERACTION. Expert has studied the physico-chemical and biological consequences of interactions between monoclonal antibodies and bacterial polysaccharides, viral glycoproteins, or molecules of the major histocompatibility complex. His work suggests new strategies for the engineering of more effective antibodies.

IMMUNOCHEMICAL ASSAY. In his research and clinical laboratory experience, Expert has employed radioimmunoassays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, flow cytometry, and microlymphocytoxicity assays. He has experience with a wide variety of solid-phase immunoassay formats.

IMMUNOCHEMISTRY. In the course of his studies on interactions between monoclonal antibodies and a bacterial polysaccharide antigen, Expert has evaluated equilibrium and kinetic constants. He has devoted substantial effort to understanding and clarifying the molecular basis for antibody specificity.

HUMORAL IMMUNOLOGY. Expert's published work has addressed some of the factors that influence the effectiveness of antibodies in mediating humoral immunity. In studies in progress, these vaccines are composed of a polysaccharide (or oligosaccharide) covalently attached to a carrier protein.
