Request Expert

Expert has 30 years’ experience developing polymeric materials systems, manufacturing processes, products and validation test methods for automotive interior and exterior trim components. Teams he led won four Society of Plastics Engineers-Automotive Division International Awards for most innovative new materials or processes.

For 30 years Expert has led the development of new materials systems, manufacturing processes, and award-winning new products to take advantage of these developments. He has been active in using these technologies and strategies to profitably grow businesses. This has involved new business development, market development, and application development. He has also successfully launched numerous new technologies including several new plants. He has also actively managed portfolios of intellectual property to leverage these for technology leadership and market dominance. This involved buying and granting licenses; establishment of joint ventures or joint development teams; and numerous acquisitions and divestitures.

Expert has hands-on experience with almost every plastic manufacturing process and with every family of thermoplastic or thermoset materials. He is the inventor of 44 patents on materials systems and processes. He has particularly strong experience with reinforced polymers (TP and TS). He has been actively involved in developing nanocomposite polymer systems, in application development and market development for these. His last seven patents as well as a dozen pending are in this area. These nano-polyolefins are now commercially available from PolyOne and he has led the development of the world's first nanocomposite SMC that is now being launched.

Expert has developed a simple, highly efficient process for developing innovative new technologies and for optimizing existing technologies. His book outlines this process. This process has resulted in hundreds of patents and led to six international business or engineering society awards for innovative new materials systems, manufacturing processes and products. Companies using this approach have grown rapidly with the best ROS and ROI values in their industries.

Expert currently spends 2.0-2.5 weeks per month on-site at Core Molding Technologies and serves as their Technical Director while he helps them to build an R&D department. He has filed several patent and trademark applications related to Nano-Lite(TM) Nanocomposite-SMC developments. He assists PolyOne Corporation and Nanocor in the development and market development of nanocomposite thermoplastics and concentrates. Expert helps Ashland Specialty Chemical to develop unique nanocomposite SMC formulations and manufacturing processes. He helps Schick-Wilkinson Sword in the development of new materials and shaving products. Expert assisted Decoma International in the development of new materials, manufacturing processes, and products. This has lead to seven issued and several pending patents.
