Expert in Nuclear Oil Well Logging
Expert ID: 719491
Connecticut, USA
NUCLEAR INSTRUMENTATION; OIL EXPLORATION; PETROLEUM PRODUCTION. For about five years, Expert consulted with Teleco Oilfield Services on the design of nuclear Measurements While Drilling (MWD) tools. He offered expertise in nuclear physics experimental methods, nuclear instrumentation, radioactivity, vacuum technology, photomultipliers, and geophysics. He co-invented the Schlumberger SNP and CNL neutron porosity tools, which are widely used by the oil industry for use in petroleum exploration and production. He developed a borehole accelerator used to make thermal decay time measurements and to do capture gamma-ray spectroscopy. The borehole accelerator is a sealed tube about a foot long and one inch in diameter. It produced 14 MeV neutrons at an intensity of 10(8) neutrons/sec. In order to perfect this device, he used his knowledge of gas discharges, high voltage insulation, and nuclear reactions.
Expert designed and developed neutron tools that use chemical sources. These sources are small doubly encapsulated cylinders, typically 1-3 inches long and less than one inch in diameter. Contained in such capsules is a mixture of beryllium and some other element that happens to be an alpha-emitter (alpha is a helium nucleus).
NEUTRON MEASUREMENT. For the last 20 years Expert was with Schlumberger, he helped design and develop thermal and epithermal neutron measurement tools. These tools are currently the only two kinds of neutron measurements that can be made involving slowed down neutrons. One of the measurements he co-developed brought $200 million in annual revenues.
PATENT LAW. Expert is presently practicing law on a part-time basis. He is very familiar with patent laws and regulations of the United States.
Expert may consult nationally and internationally, and is also local to the following cities: New York, New York - Yonkers, New York - Newark, New Jersey - Jersey City, New Jersey - Paterson, New Jersey - Elizabeth, New Jersey - Bridgeport, Connecticut - New Haven, Connecticut - Hartford, Connecticut - Springfield, Massachusetts
