Expert has completed a Masters Degree (MLitt with Distinction) in Middle East Security. This degree enabled her to widen her knowledge of the salient security issues influencing this pivotal region of international affairs. Topics studied included: Arab-Israeli relations; religion, conflict & governance; resource issues; and Gulf and Caspian security.

After completing this degree Expert travelled to Israel to complete further modules on these subjects, in a summer school, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Expert has recently completed a PhD in post-Cold War nuclear deterrence and other nuclear related challenges. Topics considered in this thesis include the continuities and changes in nuclear proliferation since the end of the Cold War, the prospects for a stable deterrence relationship vis-a-vis Iran, and the potential role of deterrence in combatting terrorism.

Expert is a teaching fellow at the Employer in Scotland where she delivers regular lectures related to the history of nuclear weapons, contemporary deterrence challenges, and strategic nuclear doctrine.

Expert also holds a post on the editorial board of the online journal of terrorism research which is based at St Andrews University, Scotland.
