The consultant has a number of years of experience in the performance of anionic polymerization ranging from simple Schlenk techniques or High-Vacuum techniques in the research laboratory to the manufacture of diene and styrene based polymers in industry.

The consultant has employed Diels-Alder cycloadditions to a number or research program in the course of his independent scientific career.

The consultant has prepared elastomers in both a research laboratory setting and at the industrial scale.

The consultant is regularly involved with the preparation of well-defined homopolymers that are either amorphous, with glass transitions temperature either above or below ambient, or semi-crystalline samples by a number of synthetic methodologies. The preparative methods employed include; living anionic polymerization, living or controlled radical polymerization, transition metal catalyzed polymerizations as well as standard step-growth polymerizations.

The consultant has direct first-hand experience with plastic manufacturing from semi-pilot, to pilot and finally to full scale industrial manufacture as a result of his six year of employment by DuPont prior to his return to academia.

The consultant was employed by DuPont in the mid-1990s in both the Nylon Intermediates and Central Research and Development Department. After this experience he then returned to academia.

The consultant is a faculty member in the top ranked Polymer Science and Engineering Department in the United States and has an excellent knowledge base of polymers and polymer applications in numerous industrial settings.

The consultant is an expert in the application of traditional polymer chemistry synthetic methods for the preparation of known and novel polymer compositions. The consultant has independently developed new synthetic polymer chemistries over the course of his research career both in industry and in academia.

Since 1999 the Consultant has been working with the Federal Aviation Administration's Fire-Safety technical research organization for the development of less flammable polymers and polymer composites for use in aircraft interiors and other areas of limited egress.

Post polymerization modification of polymers is an area in which the consultant has considerable expertise. Using traditional and newly developed polymer modification chemistries tailored physical and mechanical properties can be introduced to base polymers further extending the useful range.

The general area of polymer science comprises the fundamentals of polymer chemistry, polymer physics and polymer engineering. In his industrial and academic career the Consultant has amassed extensive knowledge, both practical and theoretical, on the full scope of topics that reside under the umbrella term of polymer science.

The consultant has mastered the application of the full set of organic chemistry transformations that are required for the preparation of tailored small molecules, i.e. monomers.


He has been an expert witness for litigation involving golf ball manufacturer and patent infringement regarding golf ball core formulations. He has been an expert witness for a case involving potential trade secret violations between industrial partners involved in tire manufacturingHis consulting services have been sought by several Fortune 500 chemical and materials manufacturing companies.
