In such a role, he is active in project consulting and asset management, development, and leasing of retail, mixed-use, and office properties. He is currently working in an advisory capacity on a 1.3 million square foot Boulevards mixed-use project in CA. He also serves as an expert witness in real estate matters.

Prior to this, Expert served as the Los Angeles area Partner and Project Principal for Panattoni Development Company. He was responsible for all ownership activities in the Greater Los Angeles area, including leasing, acquisition and development for retail, mixed-use and office properties.

Previous to Panattoni Expert was a Project Partner with the J.H. Snyder Company, one of the largest commercial real estate developers in Southern California. He focused on the development and leasing of various retail, mixed-use and office properties including Bella Terra in Huntington Beach, The River at Rancho Mirage, West Hollywood Gateway, and the NoHo Commons project in North Hollywood, CA.

Prior to joining the J.H. Snyder Company, Expert was with CBRE, the world’s largest real estate service company. He served as a Managing Director for the San Fernando Valley (L.A.) office, the West Los Angeles office and in Charlotte, North Carolina. During such tenure, he was licensed as a Real Estate Broker in California, North Carolina and South Carolina. Expert helped formulate the strategic plan for the respective geographic areas and also served as the Co-Director of the firm’s Institutional Services Group for the Los Angeles metro region with a focus on landlord leasing and management, mortgage banking, and investment sales.

Before his leadership role at CBRE, Expert was with Voit Development Company, a full-service real estate company based in Woodland Hills, CA. He achieved the title of Senior Vice President during his tenure at Voit. He was responsible for the company’s suburban development projects in the Los Angeles area and oversaw the company’s asset management business growth. He was also Director of Marketing for Warner Center Properties, a 2.8 million square foot mixed-use project in Woodland Hills, and development manager for the 80-acre Simi Valley Business Center.

Expert began his career as an associate with Price Waterhouse, where he earned the credential of Certified Public Accountant from the state of California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA and participated in Harvard University’s Executive Education Program and Stanford University’s Advanced Management College. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California, is a member and former Southern California Board Member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and is a former Co-Chairman and Board Member of the Los Angeles Commercial Realty Association (LACRA). He also has served as an Executive Committee Member for the UCLA Real Estate Alumni Group. 1. City of Carson: project management and oversight of a 157 acre landfill off the 405 Freeway and Avalon Blvd. Current design is for a 550,000 sf outlet mall, 700,000 sf of surfaced parked retail and restaurants, 350 hotel rooms and 1,200 apartments. Major lease prospects include Costco and Walmart and a major housewares tenant. Prior work on site included working with the Chargers and Raiders for a new NFL stadium, including proposed assemblage of surrounding properties.

5. The BLOC – 400,000 sf retail center in Downtown LA. Developed leasing strategy and retail development plan. Leases include Alamo Drafthouse theater, Starbucks.

• NoHo Commons: a three-phase development in North Hollywood, CA which will contained approximately 720 apartments and condos, 60,000 square feet of retail (including a HOWS Market, Wells Fargo Bank, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Coldstone Creamery and California Pizza Kitchen ASAP), and 250,000 s.f. of office. Assembled property from multiple owners.

• Valley Plaza: A proposed two-phase 600,000 s.f. retail and housing development with 22 acres in the first phase – North Hollywood, CA. Prospective tenants included Macy’s, Circuit City, Target, Costco, a 16 screen cinema, a bookstore and various apparel and food service tenants. The second phase would contain approximately 100,000 s.f. of office and 850 residential units. Negotiated existing theater lease termination with United Artist Theaters. Assembled property from multiple owners.

• Commerce Town Center – Commerce, CA: a proposed freeway frontage development to contain two hotels, a 16-plex Pacific Theatre, Wells Fargo Bank, Starbucks, Mimi’s Café, Red Robin, Chili’s, Coldstone Creamery, Office Depot, electronics and other retail and office uses.

• Ontario Civic Center – Ontario, CA: a mixed use development in the heart of Downtown Ontario. The project is proposed to include 216 flats (residential) over 80,000 s.f. of retail anchored by a market or drugstore. Additionally, the complex would include 160 apartments for rent, and 140 for sale townhomes.
