Expert has applied his background and hands-on experience in biotechnology, molecular genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry to various industries worldwide. He is especially knowledgeable of the fermentation industry and has evaluated and designed industrial fermentation systems. He can advise clients on issues specific to antibiotic synthesis, genetic manipulation, organic acids, recombinant DNA, vitamins, and biotechnology assessment and modeling.

Having worked in the area of cancer research for 10 years (seven of which were connected to the US National Cancer Institute), Expert has hands-on experience with many aspects of cancer and the various cancer treatments. He has conducted laboratory research in chemical carcinogenesis. He has thoroughly investigated the effects of a single 20mg/kg intraperitoneal injection of 3-methylcholanthrene in adult male rats. He studied this extremely potent chemical carcinogen for liver 1) growth (including liver weight, total liver DNA and RNA, and total liver protein); 2) drug metabolizing enzyme activity, specifically 3-methyl-4-monomethylaminoazobenzene N-demethylase activity; 3) 15,000 x g supernatant RNA and protein content; and 4) free, membrane-bound, and total (free + membrane-bound) ribosomal RNA and protein content.

Expert has conducted extensive laboratory research on viral carcinogenesis and cancer genetics while working with the US National Cancer Institute. Particularly noteworthy is his expertise in obtaining, isolating, and characterizing viruses, viral genes, and oncogenes from primates and nonprimates. He has published several scientific papers on both chemical carcinogenesis and viral carcinogenesis. He also has an interest in tumor suppressor genes.

In addition to his many areas of expertise, Expert is also knowledgeable of the Cohn blood fractionation process which produces desirable fractionations and separations of blood using varying concentrations of ethanol at low temperatures. He has consulted with industry groups in the areas of blood fractionation and blood processing for the purpose of developing products for therapeutics, diagnostics, and research.

Recently, Expert applied DNA probe technology in the human disease diagnostics area for the Diagnostics Division at Abbott Laboratories, where he was responsible for product development and market entry of Abbott's Hepatitis B Viral (HBV) DNA diagnostic assay. He received the Abbott Laboratories' Presidential Award for his scientific work in developing this diagnostic product. He has several scientific publications on DNA probe technology to his credit. He has consulted for clients on various DNA issues. He can answer in-depth questions on DNA structure, synthesis, sequencing, and manipulation.

Expert has worked with enzymes for eight years. He has experience with industrial enzymes, human therapeutic enzymes, and restriction enzymes. He has purified enzymes used for human therapeutic purposes and for research purposes. Expert consults with clients on technical, business, economic, market, commercial, and strategic aspects of enzymes and the enzyme industry. He has worked with thermostable enzymes used in the fermentation industry and the pulp and paper industry. Expert organized and presided over two international conferences on industrial enzymes in Chicago. In addition, he has edited and published the proceedings of these conferences.

Expert has experience with chiral synthesis, chirality, and chiral drugs. He has consulted with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agrochemical, and separation technology clients in these areas. He has focused on technologies for producing pure optical isomers out of racemates and on producing chiral intermediate compounds.

Expert is knowledgeable of nutraceuticals and how foods may be used to treat human disease. He has applied his background in biotechnology, molecular genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry to the area of nutraceuticals across a wide range of industries.

Expert has experience with blood substitutes. He has consulted with clients on the technologies, applications, business aspects, and markets for blood substitutes.
