Request Expert

Expert is a molecular biologist focused on cell signaling pathways that influence cancer initiation and progression. His work on the lipid kinase PI3K and AKT led to a number of highly cited articles and have contributed to the design and development of new cancer treatment therapies. As more clinical trials demonstrating the efficacy of targeted cancer therapies emerge, it is becoming clear that some of the most hopeful treatments are now within our reach. Cancer still has the advantage, however, and current thought is that combinatorial drug therapies that
converge treatment modalities will provide superior efficacy. As a specialist in understanding how kinases function.

Expert is positioned to identify and exploit these signaling enzymes. More recently, he has discovered a new interaction in cancer between two of the most often activated proteins, the kinase AKT and the transcription factor MYC. The interaction between AKT and Myc could represent an important and novel cancer target, as small molecules designed to disrupt their interaction could have significant clinical benefits.
